About Us
Natural Organizing, LLC was created to combine two of my passions: organizing and using green principles throughout my life. The realization that I enjoy organizing came about 3 years ago as I anticipated the arrival of my new dresser. It has 8 small drawers, a larger drawer and a two-door cupboard. As its arrival approached I kept contemplating, "what will I put in each drawer?" Maybe I could have one drawer just for underwear, one for white socks, another for colored... the possibilities were stimulating for me. It was the look on my husband's face when I confided my excitement that made me question if these were normal feelings.
In the not so distant past I found myself looking for a job. At this same time The Container Store was advertising that they were hiring for their new store - and they offer a 40% employee discount! Oh, man, me working at The Container Store would be like a kid in a candy store. I was dearly tempted to apply. It was the realization that I would be bringing home bags of "toys" each week but no paycheck that kept me away.
My excitement over The Container Store, the memory of a brand new dresser and a job I didn't care for made me rethink this love for organizing. I did some research and discovered there are lots of people just like me, they are called Professional Organizers.
Living in the Twin Cities has opened up recycling and green living opportunities to me that I did not have before. I continue to make strides toward a life that is less harmful to the planet, myself and my pets. This includes recycling everything I possibly can, purchasing recycled and/or recyclable goods and re-using things I already have or those of others. Unfortunately, the organizing industry loves plastic (non-recyclable plastic). The good news, though, is that there are many, many organizational products that are made from recycled and sustainable products. Bamboo, metal, cork and products made from post-consumer waste are readily available. Along with these great options are many second hand stores and yard sales allowing us to reuse what others no longer need.
